How to get back on track when crap happens
Have you ever had a truly crappy day?
A tip for your Time Management Revolution: How to get back on track when stuff happens
You know, sometimes life just ain’t fair. Bad things happen to really good people. Even if you’re an organized and efficient person, bad things can throw you off track. If you’re not organized and efficient, bad things can throw you completely off track and leave you reeling.
I’m not about to suggest that you repress your feelings. Please, do vent or gripe or throw a tantrum or do whatever you need to do to express the emotions you feel about having an incredibly lousy day. But if we let that tantrum extend to hours, or if we let ourselves go into a funk for days…and days and days, then we just end up causing ourselves more harm – because it’ll take us that much longer to dig out of a hole and return to normalcy.
That’s why it’s important when you have a terrible, horrible, no good day (a la Alexander – link to Amazon movie) and life kicks you, make sure you get up and kick life back. It’s important to face things with blunt force positivity and always try to find the silver lining…because that’s what helps keep us going. Also, have your priorities and your targets (link to these posts) posted in a place where you can see them every single day. Why, you ask? If you know what you’re living for and working toward, that gives you a focus and will help you get back on track. Also, make sure that you surround yourself with a team – a team of people who truly care about you and who you truly care about. Your decision to pull up your bootstraps – in addition to the support you receive from your team – are what will get you back on track and moving forward once again.
With all of these things in place, you will be able to recover a lot more quickly from a lousy day. And when you can recover quickly, your brain will be clear, which will help you to make better decisions about how you use your time.
