Have you considered using your navigation app in this way?
Before navigation app options on your SMART phone were invented, there were TomTom and Garmin. Remember those little guys? You had to plug them into your cigarette lighter and figure out how to mount them on your dashboard or windshield. You needed to have your maps updated and downloaded before you got into the car. My, have we come a long way.
Now you have a number of navigation app options. Two very popular navigation apps are Google Maps and Waze. Using them can help you get where you need to be – on time. No matter which one you use, consider these options:
- Use your navigation app to navigate your home base. Don’t wait to use it when you go out of town. Utilize your navigation app wherever you go so that you can get real-time traffic updates and circumvent traffic jams.
- Use your navigation app to get home. Of course you know where you live! But we’re not using the navigation app to get directions. In this case, we’re using it to get home faster by avoiding commute backlogs.
- Plan your routes the day before you need to be somewhere. You’ll know what lane you need to be in ahead of time before any interchanges or forks in the road so that you can easily maneuver in any direction, depending on what the navigation app instructs you to do.
- To help you plan, use the “Leave Now” drop-down menu in Google Maps to estimate traffic patterns on any given day of the week.
