Campania, Italy Adventure
April 9 - 22, 2026
Unlike Tuscany, the region of Campania, Italy, probably isn't at the top of your list of places to visit in Italy. But when you realize that Pompeii, Naples, Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast are in Campania, it makes sense to head to this region known for ancient ruins and delicious food!
Pack your roomiest pants, skirts or dresses and your most comfortable shoes. We are going to walk through history and savor the flavors of Campania!
The start and end dates of this adventure are firm. What might change is the location and/or activity for the day. If you are planning side adventures outside of this itinerary, please check with us first to make sure our location for your date is confirmed.
Day 0, Wednesday, April 8: Depart the U.S.
When you book your flight, remember that you'll arrive in Europe the day after you leave the U.S. If you're not traveling elsewhere prior to this, be sure to leave the U.S. by today.
Day 1, Thursday, April 9: Naples
Meet in Naples, Italy, for dinner. We'll enjoy traditional Neapolitan pizza since, after all, this is the birthplace of pizza! Since everyone who arrives in Europe today will be jetlagged, this will not be a late night.
(Dinner) Accommodations: Naples
Day 2, Friday, April 10: Naples adventures
After breakfast, we’ll visit the famous archaeology museum (considered one of the best in Europe) which houses many artifacts from Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as the Farnese Collection. In the afternoon, we’ll wander the Corso and Spanish Quarter during our street food crawl.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Accommodations: Naples
Day 3, Saturday, April 11: Day trip to Paestum
We'll take a train to these ancient Greek ruins, famous for its three temples, ancient walls and amphitheater. Since this area is also the home of mozzarella di bufala, you know we'll need to experience a tasting.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Accommodations: Naples
Day 4, Sunday, April 12: Naples to Capri
After breakfast, we’ll catch a ferry to the island of Capri. After we drop off our luggage at the hotel, we’ll head over to Anacapri. You'll have free time there until we meet up for dinner.
(Breakfast, Dinner) Accommodations: Capri
Day 5, Monday, April 13: Capri adventures
We’ll join the first boat out of the marina to attempt entry to the Blue Grotto. Whether we’re able to get in for a peek or not, we’ll continue on the boat and enjoy a trip around the island of Capri, taking in the views from the sea. Afterward, you’ll have free time to wander the marina or shopping district in Capri Town, or relax at a cafe.
(Breakfast, Dinner) Accommodations: Capri
Day 6, Tuesday, April 14: Capri to Sorrento
A morning ferry will take us from Capri to Sorrento, considered the western “gateway home base” for the Amalfi Coast. After we drop off our luggage at the hotel, you'll have the afternoon to explore the historic district, marina and beach or relax at a cafe or bar.
(Breakfast, Dinner) Accommodations: Sorrento
Day 7, Wednesday, April 15: Day trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum
Today we'll hop on and off the regional train to visit these ancient sites you most likely first heard about during elementary school history lessons.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Accommodations: Sorrento
Day 8, Thursday, April 16: Capri to Maiori
After breakfast, we’ll meet our boat in the Sorrento marina. We’ll enjoy a leisurely sail along the Amalfi Coast, taking in views of the hillside villages from the water. If the weather cooperates, we’ll sail by and/or through beautiful arches, caves and grottos, plus pop in for a bite to eat at a restaurant that is only accessible by boat. After we settle into our hotel in Maiori, we’ll venture out for nourishment.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Accommodations: Maiori
Day 9, Friday, April 17: Day trip to Positano
We'll transfer to Positano by ferry. After a delicious lunch, you'll have time on your own to wander this hillside mecca for shoppers before we take the ferry back to Maiori.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Nourishment) Accommodations: Maiori
Day 10, Saturday, April 18: Day trip to Amalfi
We’ll transfer by ferry to Amalfi, which is the transportation hub for the Amalfi Coast. You'll have free time to wander through the “old town” or relax at an enoteca.
(Breakfast, Evening Nourishment) Accommodations: Maiori
Day 11, Sunday, April 19: Free day in Maiori
Maiori is one of the smaller, unfamous villages of the Amalfi Coast. Most tourists skip it, which means it’s a little less crowded and a little more slow-paced. You have the morning to wander and perhaps find a “locals” place for lunch. In the afternoon, you’re welcome to join us as we walk the "Path of Lemons" and enjoy tastings of lemon-based treats on our way to the even smaller town of Minori. We’ll take a bus back to Maiori so we can check off “drove along the Amalfi Coast.” You’ll find out why this experience appears on all of the must-do lists.
(Breakfast, Dinner) Accommodations: Maiori
Day 12, Monday, April 20: Maiori to Ravello
A taxi will transport us up the hill to the beautiful town of Ravello. After dropping our luggage at the hotel, you'll have the day to visit shops and secret gardens, or people watch from a café on the square.
(Breakfast, Dinner) Accommodations: Ravello
Day 13, Tuesday, April 21: Cooking demonstration
Just outside the historic center of Ravello is the location for this experience. From 10:00 - 4:00, we'll enjoy sea views from a terrace while we learn about how to cook authentic Campania food. Of course, we'll be nibbling and sipping the entire time. It'll be a very rough day.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Nourishment) Accommodations: Ravello
Day 14, Wednesday, April 22: Ravello to Naples
Hopefully you gained strength the day prior because today will be an adventure. We'll take a taxi from Ravello down to Amalfi and catch a ferry back to Naples. After we drop our luggage at our hotel, we shall make our way to our farewell dinner feast.
(Breakfast, Mid-day Nourishment, Dinner) Accommodations: Naples
Day 15, Thursday, April 23: Ciao for now!
After breakfast, we’ll say, “Ci vediano” – “See you again.” Continue you on your own personal adventure or head home.
