In today’s world, we rush around from here to there, all day long, day in and day out, in an attempt to finish our never-ending to-do lists. We push and push to squeeze in more and more. We run ourselves ragged and run the risk of crashing and burning. Operating in this manner makes us less productive.
In our quest for more, we usually ignore our own well-being and end up with less…less good health, less nutrition and less happiness. It’s time to change that. It’s time to take care of yourself by scheduling at least 15 minutes – a quarter of an hour – of fun time or relaxation time each day. This is your Happy Q!
Schedule Time for Your Stress Management Techniques
Some folks think that they can’t fit stress management techniques or recharge time into their day because it needs to be in a longer block, like happy hour. But if you don’t have room for that in your schedule, you can still begin to improve your life by unwinding for only a quarter of an hour.
Take out your calendar. Block off 15 minutes for Happy Quarter each day for the next week. How would you like to recharge? Meditate? Go for a walk? Pray? Do yoga? Curl up with a glass of wine? Read a book?
Our brains and bodies need to take a break in order to operate at optimal levels. By taking the time to care for yourself, you’ll improve your mental well-being, lower your stress levels and improve your quality of life.
Once you get into the groove of Happy Q, don’t be shy about extending it to Happy Hour! Do what it takes to make time for stress management techniques.
